Use of AI and acceptable use
Last updated:
Looka uses artificial intelligence to create images. We want you to know, without small print, what it does, what it doesn’t do and which rules apply. Every try-on you see in Looka is a synthetic image generated by AI, not a real photograph.
How it works
- Stickers: when you paste a link or upload a photo of a garment, the AI isolates it, cuts it out and describes it (type, colour…) to create a clean sticker for your wardrobe.
- Surprise me: the AI suggests combinations from the garments already in your wardrobe.
- Try it on: the AI generates a full-body studio photo of a person wearing the outfit, using up to 4 of your photos as identity reference so that person looks like you. It takes about 15 seconds.
We use face detection only to frame the image and preserve your face in the result. We don’t perform biometric identification.
Which provider we use
Image generation and analysis are done by Google Gemini, through its paid API. According to the terms of Google’s paid service, data sent through the API is not used to train Google’s models. We never use your photos to train AI models.
Limitations and biases
- It’s an approximation. The result doesn’t guarantee the real size, fit, drape or colour of the garment.
- It can get things wrong: change details of the garment (prints, logos, buttons), your body, hair or face, or invent elements that don’t exist.
- It can be biased. AI models learn from huge numbers of images and may represent some body types, skin tones, ages or styles less well. If a result doesn’t represent you well, try other reference photos and, if you like, tell us.
- It depends on your photos: it works best with a front-facing full-body photo and a close-up of your face, in good light.
Transparency (EU AI Act)
In line with the transparency obligations of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 on Artificial Intelligence, we inform you that Looka try-ons are AI-generated content. Generated images may include a label or metadata that identifies them as synthetic. If you share them, don’t present them as real photos.
Consent: the golden rule
Only upload photos of yourself, or of an adult who has given you explicit permission to do so.
It is never allowed to:
- upload photos of minors;
- generate nudity or sexual content;
- impersonate someone else or create “deepfakes” to deceive, harass, humiliate or harm anyone;
- create illegal, violent or hateful content;
- misuse third-party trademarks or protected content.
We may apply automatic filters, block requests and suspend accounts that break these rules, as set out in the Terms of use.
How to report misuse
If you think someone has used Looka with your image without permission, or you’ve seen an image generated with Looka that breaks these rules, write to hola@cometalabs.io with the subject “Misuse report”. Include as much information as you can (for example where you saw it and why you think it breaks the rules). We review every report as a priority and, where appropriate, remove the content and suspend the account.
